Students should prepare for teaching their classmates about their cycle by following these steps:
1) Finish your terms page.
2) Finish your reference page (the one with the fill-in-the-blanks paragraph and the diagram).
3) Draw a diagram of your own that helps you make sense of your cycle.
4) Make a list of things you're going to do to help your classmates understand.
The list could look like this:
a. have students read the textbook pages out loud. Stop if there are questions and discuss.
b. Sketch a diagram without labels for your students to label.
c. Practice describing the diagram in words. Make sure you're using all of the terms!
d. Talk with people who are doing the same cycle as you for advice and help.
When your list is done, take turns teaching your cycle with another person doing the same cycle as you.
WHEN YOU TEACH:
Have your students start by re-reading the text.
You may not show your students the reference page (with the diagram and paragraph).
You may use any printed images you can find.
You may show them any other materials you need.
Your students must use all of the terms in the diagram and the paragraph.
The paragraph goes on the top of each section of the flipbook. The diagram goes on the bottom.
Once your students are ready to write a paragraph and draw the diagram, YOU MAY NOT draw or tell them what to do. You can only ask them questions! Don't tell them exactly what to do; give hints and ask questions.
